RYAN HIGGINS ENDORSED BY THE DAILY HERALD
Newspaper recognizes Higgins’ “thoughtful approach” to state issues
SCHAUMBURG, IL - Ryan Higgins, Republican candidate for State Representative in the 56th District, was endorsed today by the Daily Herald, which recognized Higgins for this “thoughtful approach” to critical issues facing Illinois.
The Daily Herald noted, regarding their endorsement of Ryan Higgins: “The Daily Herald endorses Higgins for his backing of several reform measures: term limits for legislative leaders and caps on campaign contributions, including funds handed out by legislative leaders. His thoughtful approach to rein in state spending includes attacking Medicaid fraud and other Medicaid changes, capping the cost-of-living increase and raising the retirement age for future pension recipients, and considering zero-based budgeting, in which every expense must be justified yearly.”
The newspaper also added the following regarding Higgins’ opponent:
“[Anita] Forte-Scott[’s] . . . ideas for a one-time sales tax holiday and doubled income tax credit for property tax payments are ill-timed during the state's budget crisis. Re-elected to the Schaumburg Township Library Board in April, Forte-Scott said at that time that her commitment was to that seat only. We are troubled by her quick change of heart, as well as by tax liens still pending for her business property in Elgin.” (Emphasis added)
A Schaumburg resident, Higgins said he was honored to have the newspaper’s endorsement.
”The Daily Herald has recognized that my understanding of state issues, innovative ideas to solve the many budgetary problems facing Illinois, and my commitment to pro-business issues that will get our residents back to work, will give our party the best chance to win this seat in the fall,” Higgins said. “I am delighted to have the Daily Herald’s endorsement.”
